The add link asks for exactly what Octera uses — moderation, roles, channels, messages and the audit log — so you can see what you are granting instead of a single Administrator tick. For a security setup we strongly recommend giving Octera Administrator anyway. Anti-nuke and anti-raid work by editing channel permissions to lock the server down and by stripping roles from whoever is doing the damage; one channel that denies Octera is one channel it silently cannot lock while a nuke is in progress, and Administrator closes that hole. It does not close the other one: drag Octera's role to the top of your role list, because no permission — Administrator included — lets a bot act on a role above its own. That role position, not the permission tick, is what decides whether a raid gets stopped. Octera's login token and your data are never shared with your server. Add with Administrator

Prefer not to grant Administrator? Untick it on the invite screen and leave these on, which is everything Octera actually uses: View Channels, Send Messages, Send Messages in Threads, Create Public Threads, Embed Links, Attach Files, Add Reactions, Read Message History, Use External Emojis, Mention Everyone, Create Polls, Create Invite, Kick Members, Ban Members, Timeout Members, Manage Messages, View Audit Log, Manage Channels, Manage Roles, Manage Server, Manage Nicknames, Manage Webhooks, Manage Expressions, Connect, Speak and Move Members. Remove any one of them and the feature that needs it stops working, quietly. Whichever you choose, Octera's role still has to sit above the roles it manages.

No — adding Octera changes nothing on its own. Every module ships off until you turn it on, the activity log shows each change, and backups only save your server's structure (roles, channels, settings) so a restore re-creates what's missing without ever deleting anything. Turn on as little or as much as you like.

No. Almost everything is configured from the web dashboard — point, click, see a live preview. Commands are there if you prefer them, but you never have to memorize a single one to get a full setup running.
